Our trip to Las Vegas and Los Angeles

2011 has started off with a bang! I have been planning a trip to the Adult Video News (AVN) Convention since I got in the adult novelty business several years ago. Also we would get to see the sights of Las Vegas and since we were on the West Coast I figured we might as well go to LA since Adult Novelty Manufacturers Expo (ANME) was happening at the same time. This adventure started last year when we had to figure our budget out and how long we were staying where and what we would do while out west. Amanda said she would drive me out there and then Lori would fly out for a couple days and head back to Dallas to get back to work since she loves working. We started our journey on January 4th making our way all the way through Texas and almost all the way through New Mexico stopping overnight in Albuquerque (ABQ). We saw some really cool clouds as the cold front moved easterly and we took a lot of different pics of them. The weather was supposed to be getting bad the more west we went towards California but luckily it held out until we were almost to the hotel in ABQ. Since we made pretty good time and it hadn’t started snowing yet, I decided to take Amanda for a world Famous Sopapilla Burger from Casa de Benavidez near Old Town in ABQ.

Casa de Benavidez has been around for more than 40 years and their claim to fame has been their awesome Sopapilla Burgers and their Chips and Salsa which is available in most grocery stores in the Southwest. The Casa is a unique building because it started as a 4 bedroom adobe home and has since grown to almost half a city block with plenty of parking including concrete areas for handicapped parking. Unfortunately I forgot about the concrete when me and Lori came in October, we parked on the other side with the gravel so it was fun pushing my scooter through the thick pea gravel. Once Inside you see a really cool fountain and waterfall and to the right they have a huge mural of a stagecoach crossing a river. You are served by the waiters pretty quickly but it was a Tuesday night so it wasn’t real busy, you start out with chips and the salsa come in 2 colors red or green. Both of the salsas were too hot for me so i had a couple chips. I told Amanda that last time me and Lori couldn’t even finish half of our Sopapilla Burger last time so we decided to split a half pound one and it was great, they come with a Sopapilla on top and bottom, a scoop of refried beans, Cheddar cheese, lettuce and Tomatoes, Green and Red Chilis are optional but we decided against that. After finishing our burger we decided to move the car to the concrete area so it would be easier to load. DunkinDonuts was calling our name as we drove by on the way back to the hotel, we stopped and they were giving half price donuts, woot woot.
